When Josh Dugar was convicted of child pornography in December 2021, he was immediately arrested and taken to a county jailhouse in Fayetteville, Arkansas, where he has been since.
For security reasons, the disgraced former reality star is being held in solitary confinement.
So it could probably be a blow to Josh’s system when he was removed from his cell on Wednesday and taken to the Admissions Court of Journalists and Photographers for his long-delayed sentencing hearing.
Led by Josh’s sentence, several members of his family have appealed to the judge, urging him to be lenient in his sentencing.
Josh’s wife, Anna Dugar, wrote a letter asking the judge to reunite the father of seven with his young children.
Similarly, Josh’s mother, Michelle Duger, wrote a letter in which she bizarrely argued that Josh’s ability to manage his family’s finances was an indication of his superior character.
Neither Anna nor Michelle made any mention of Josh’s crimes, and insiders say both women are still convinced of his innocence.
They also did not mention the fact that when he was a teenager, Josh molested five young girls, four of whom were his sisters.
His parents helped him avoid the lawsuit, which Jill Dugar – who was one of Josh’s victims – is thought to be one of the reasons he decided to sever ties with his parents.
Interestingly, Michelle and Anna were the only members of the huge Dugar family who wrote a letter to the judge on behalf of Josh.
Many of his siblings apparently refused to weigh in on the issue.
Not only that, fans have noticed that the big duggar sisters have mostly gone silent on social media.
Earlier this week, Jill was 31 years old, and she posted a photo to acknowledge the occasion, but no member of her family publicly acknowledged her.
Similarly, Ginger posted about her husband Jeremy Vulo, a graduate of Divinity School, but her account has been inactive ever since.
Many fans believe that this is a way for Jill, Jessa, Jingar and Joy-Anna to silently protest the continued support of their parents who terrorized them during their childhood.
Whatever the case may be, it seems that the letters brought to the judge and Michelle may have the opposite effect of intent.
“To support his argument, Dugar relies on the claims of his wife, his mother and others that he is ‘deeply devoted’ to his faith and family,” reads a response from the prosecution, originally obtained by the UK tabloid. The sun.
He claims that the authors’ are extremely supportive when fully aware of his suffix[s]’And this will enable her to make the most of the rest of her life and work hard to ensure that her children’s lives are affected as little as possible’ by her trafficking to CSAM, “the filing continues.
“These claims only underscore the appropriateness of the government’s sentencing recommendations.”
The prosecution argues that the amount of blind allegiance Josh receives from his wife and parents is another reason why he should be detained for as long as it is legal.
“Indeed, his supportive family and public outreach and privileged lifestyle make his criminal behavior even more surprising,” the DA’s office wrote.
“Despite gaining some level of fame through reality television as an adult, he is now more known for his behavior, including his sexual inconsistencies and criminal sexual behavior outside of his family programs.
“More importantly, none of these letters are significantly related to his crime or his sexual orientation towards ex-girlfriends.”
The prosecution argues that it is “unlikely” Josh “will receive the necessary treatment and accountability to prevent him from committing the crime again if he maintains this posture.”
“In fact, given the apparent success of his blaming strategy with some people he wants to surround himself with after his release from prison, it’s not just impossible – it’s unimaginable,” the document concludes.
Yes, Michelle and Anna may have accidentally strengthened the argument for a longer sentence for Josh.
He faces up to 20 years in prison – and we’re sure many of his victims will breathe a sigh of relief if he gets the maximum punishment.
