R. Kelly faces punishment for sex trafficking; Prosecutors 25 years or so

In September, notorious rapper and sex victim R Kelly was convicted of sex trafficking and racketeering.

This is a person who, despite being almost synonymous with sexual abuse and embellishment, has been able to avoid consequences for many years.

Federal prosecutors have noted that his conviction in the nine counties is long overdue, and that the sentence should reflect the scope and severity of his crime.

Kelly is being sentenced to more than 25 years in prison.

R. Kelly will be sentenced on June 29, nine months after his conviction for decades.

On Thursday, federal prosecutors filed documents asking the court to punish the contempt rapper who spent nearly several years behind bars to avoid trial.

“In light of the seriousness of the crime,” the filing began.

The filing noted “the need for specific resistance and the need to protect the public from further offenses by the accused.”

For example, “the government respectfully submits that a sentence of more than 25 years has been confirmed.”

The filing came from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York.

Prosecutors have acknowledged that R.C. Kelly “relied on her fame, money and popularity as an R&B recording star.”

He used his influence and resources to “carry and conceal his guilt.”

“He has continued his crime and has avoided punishment for them for nearly 30 years,” prosecutors noted, “and must now be held accountable.”

Prosecutors have not backed down, as their filing spans 31 pages.

Building on the power of the evidence and Kelly’s conviction, they cite the “disgraceful neglect” they showed towards his victim.

For many years, Kelly has used abuses, juvenile delinquency, and manipulation to gain sexual access to women and girls supported by a network of financial benefits and support.

And Kelly without glasses

Despite numerous allegations and even a notorious one a few decades ago, Kelly never seemed to slow down.

For example, serial hunters “are unlikely to refrain from sexually abusing and exploiting children and others.”

If the court favors prosecutors over the sentencing, Kelly will be in her 70s when she leaves prison … and even more complicated.

Kelly did not limit his reign of terror against women and girls to New York.

There are allegations against him across the country.

Minnesota state prosecutors are pursuing him for a crime against a minor. Federal prosecutors in Illinois want him to be charged with child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and obstruction.

The trial in Illinois is set for August.

In April of this year, his attorneys tried to delay his sentence in New York until his trial in August.

The delay strategy clearly failed.

Kelly’s attorneys are also trying to limit her sentence to 14 years.

However, due to the overall lack of remorse for his actions, it is difficult for the court to imagine such humility.

Prosecutors note that Abadi’s decades-old crime appears to have been fueled by narcissism and a belief that his musical talents freed him from his guilt.

We have to make a lot of strong arguments against every aspect of the justice system as it stands now, including mass imprisonment.

Some people, however, represent a clear and present danger to society, and have used their resources and power to destroy lives in unimaginably brutal ways.

R. Kelly is one such person, and a jury of his peers confirmed last year that. Let us hope that the court sentence reflects the horrors that he has inflicted on many.
