Justin Bieber has caused great concern to fans.
Late last week, the singer announced that he was postponing his tour and taking a break from his career in general – because he was suffering from something called Ramsay Hunt Syndrome.
Bieber says in a disturbing Instagram post:
“Of course, as you can see from my mouth, I have this syndrome called Ramsay Hunt Syndrome, and it is from this virus that it attacks my ear nerves and my facial nerves and causes paralysis of my mouth.”
“As you can see, this eye is not burning. I can’t smile on this side of my face, this nostril won’t move, so I have complete paralysis on this side of my face.”
The two-time Grammy winner said in a speech at his recently postponed concert that he was “physically, obviously not capable of doing that.”
He goes ahead to pray for the fans and confirms that this condition is probably a very big deal.
“You see, it’s very serious,” Bieber said.
“I hope it’s not like that, but obviously, my body is telling me I want to slow down.
“I hope you understand.
“I will use this time to rest and relax and come back 100 percent so that I can do what I was born to do.”
In response, many social media users left shocking and supportive comments.
Others, meanwhile, wondered about Ramsay Hunt Syndrome.
What could the future hold for Bieber?
Ramsay Hunt Syndrome is a rare neurological disorder that occurs when the varicella-zoster virus infects a nerve in the head near the inner ear.
It is most often caused by chicken pox as a child or herpes as an adult, as the virus can remain dormant in the body for many years.
It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.
Symptoms may include a painful rash inside the ear canal and outside the ear, sometimes invading the roof of the tongue and mouth.
Due to the involvement of the inner ear, people with this condition may also suffer from vertigo (feeling of dizziness or something moving around you), or tinnitus, ringing in the ears.
Ramsey Hunt Syndrome can cause hearing loss on the side of the affected face.
As has unfortunately been the case with Beaver, it can cause weakness, side drops or paralysis on the side of the face infected by the virus.
This type of weakness can make it difficult to close one’s eyes, make facial expressions, and have difficulty eating, as food may leak out of the side of the weak mouth.
It usually contains steroids (such as prednisone) to reduce inflammation and pain medications.
Sometimes, antiviral drugs that help the herpes family, such as acyclovir or valacyclovir.
Justin’s wife, Hailey Baldwin Bieber, feared for her own health in March after being hospitalized for a stroke.
On Thursday, he responded to his wife’s video by saying “I love you baby” in his Instagram story.
Bieber, meanwhile, has assured fans that he is “going to get better” and that he is “doing face exercises to get my face back to normal.”
“It will return to normal – it’s just a matter of time and we don’t know how long, but it will be fixed,” he said in his video.
“Of course my body is telling me I need to slow down. I hope you understand and I will use this time just to rest and relax and come back 100%.”
