Ray Leota, veteran actor and Goodfellas star, has died at the age of 67

Ray Leota, a veteran Hollywood star whose career began after his role in the Martin Scorsese crime classic Goodfellas, died Thursday morning.

According to the deadline, the veteran actor died in his sleep in the Dominican Republic, where he was shooting the film Dangerous Waters.

The actor has recently starred in major films such as The Many Saints of New York, Marriage Story and No Sudden Move.

She had just finished Elizabeth Banks-directed cocaine beer and was set to star opposite Demi Moore and Margaret Quali in the working title film The Substance.

But it was Leo’s turn as Henry Hill – an American mobster who was associated with the Lucas crime family in New York City from 1955 to 1980, then arrested on drug charges and turned out to be an FBI informant – which really drove Leo to the movies. On the map.

Goodfellas was nominated for six Academy Awards.

Leota herself was nominated for a Golden Globe for Jonathan Dame-directed Something Wild and later appeared in the legendary film Field of Dreams as the shoeless Joe Jackson.

Meanwhile, TMZ reports that Leo’s fiance, Jesse Nitolo, was in the Dominican Republic with the actor during the shooting of his latest movie.

The same celebrity gossip website says authorities do not suspect that foul play was involved in the star’s death.

Leota and Nitolo (pictured, below) were engaged over the holidays in late 2020.

“Christmas wishes come true.

“I told the love of my life to marry me, and thank God she said yes !!!” At the time, the actor wrote on Instagram, confirming the romantic news.

He has a daughter, Carson Leota, from his previous marriage to Michelle Grace.

This past November, Leotta spoke to People magazine about how her personality differed from that of the tough-guy role she played on television and on the big screen.

“I’ve never been in a fight except during sports, and it’s just pushing and shoving kids,” he said at the time:

“It simply came to our notice then.

“For some reason, I was busier this year than I was all year.”
